Census Operation Update: Self-Response Extended to October 31

Officials from the U.S. Census Bureau released a statement on April 13 announcing adjustments to operations due to COVID-19. Field data collection activities were suspended in March; however, the Census Bureau will resume some field operations in select locations as of May 4. The Census Bureau is proposing that Congress allow apportionment counts to be delayed by 120 calendar days. Field data collection and self-response will now extend to October 31, which will delay the submission of apportionment counts as well as redistricting data. You can view the adjusted schedule here.
