U.S. Census Bureau Provides Clarification for Multi-Unit Property Managers and Residents

We previously released the U.S. Census Bureau’s guidance for property managers, while cautioning that the factsheet does not explicitly state that property managers are required to give census enumerators access into their building.

In response to the Count All Kids Committee’s request, the U.S. Census Bureau addressed this concern in the Frequently Asked Question page of its website.

You can access the FAQ for managers and residents directly or by following the steps below:

  1. Go to ask.census.gov
  2. The left panel will have a list of topics, click “2020 Census”.
  3. Items should appear in the form of a drop-down menu. Select “Multi Unit”.

The FAQs clarify what residents and property managers are required to provide census enumerators.
